What public transportation can I use to get around the City?

Taxi cabs are a convenient way to get around Philadelphia, especially later at night when public transportation runs less often. The base fare is $2.70, and increases at a rate of $0.30 for every tenth of a mile. Fortunately, Philadelphia is a small city, so the most any trip might cost is $14.00. Taking a taxi from 37th and Chestnut Streets to 15th Street would cost about $6.50. A tip of 15% the base rate is customary, but not included. Cash is the best way to pay, but most taxi cabs in Philadelphia now are equipped to take credit card payment -- but the drivers may tell you that they cannot accept credit, and insist on cash instead.
